Royal Travelers' Testimonials

We appreciate all that you did to make our 50th anniversary trip so wonderful.

Thank you many times over for your great work in planning our South African vacation.  Bud and I agree that it was the best vacation we have ever had.  Your attention to detail left us without worries for any of
the transfers or itineraries that were involved.   Swain Destinations
did not miss a beat.  They were there waiting for us at every airport and did a great job of getting us to and from quickly and on time.

And your choice of hotels was wonderful.  Our lucky upgrade from Le Quartier Francais to the Leeu Estate was unbelievable.  I doubt that we
will ever find another hotel quite that nice.   And the Cape Grace was
beautiful and so conveniently located for all activities in Cape Town.
But best of all was your finding the reduced rates for business class on Emirates Airlines.  We had never flown Emirates before and we were blown away by the accommodations, service and great food.

Our family vacation was better than I envisioned

All the connections, reservations and guided tours were flawless.  The weather was perfect, the food was great and the people were very hospitable.  I will always remember the water taxi ride to our hotel in Venice on the Sunday morning of our first day. The only thing I will do differently next time, when it's just Mary Kathryn and me, is to fly first class on the transatlantic leg of the flight.  We will definitely come to you to plan our next adventure.  Thank you for all your help.

June 2017

This was the most wonderful two weeks I think I've ever experienced.  Only downside is you've spoiled me for all future trips.

The flight was perfect.  We've never flown like that.   Beginning with the first class lounge, champagne before you sat, the service, seats/beds, etc.   Could not have been more perfect.

The driver was there at the airport as arranged; and he took us to the Powers Hotel.   The location, staff, meals, hotel itself, couldn't have been better.   But the best part of Paris for us was Elvira;  she was patient, engaging, of course knowledgeable, and a complete pleasure.   We made some changes in our plans the second day and visited the Louvre opposed to Fountainbleu, but as it turned out, Gloria could stay at the Louvre for a year of Sundays and be happy.  Of course the food in Paris is great, people were nice, and we were there for the finals of the Euro-Cup where Portugal beat France and the City was electric.   Just a perfect time.  We did all the touristy things of Paris that we could fit in over a day and half.   But none of it would have been nearly as perfect without Elvira;  if you ever speak to her again, please let her know.    She even put us on line at the train station..just pefect

When we arrived in London we were tired,  picked up a taxi after arranging tickets for Scotland a few days later, and as you can imagine, we were a little tired when we arrived at Athenaeum.   It's drizzling, we're tired, and as the taxi cab door stops in front of our hotel,  two bellman come to greet opens the door, hands us umbrellas,  takes all the bags and says he's got it all and not to worry....but the other guy,  about 6 foot three and the world's friendliest man, helps Gloria out the taxi, looks at both of us, and says "Welcome Home".....of course that was your friend Jim.   I couldn't tell you how that made us feel.   and for the next three and 1/2 we were treated like Royalty. From Jim, the wait staff, the food, the bar; the doorman...all of it, just perfect.  I'd recommend that hotel to anyone.   Of course we loved London;   London Tower, Buckingham, Windsor, Stonehenge, Bath, the play Wicked, Piccadilly, Soho, the Eye, the Thames, walking around different neighborhoods,  all of it.   We really loved London and  the tours we took:  and at the end of day we always came "Home"., and that's exactly as we felt;  couldn't have been more perfect.

Got on the train to Glasgow.  The only thing I'd do different next time is I'd fly.  The train was fine, but it's a lot easier to lug luggage around airports as opposed to train stations.   Lesson learned.   In any event, the train ride was very nice, and we did get to our car quick enough (Audi Quatro, very nice), and off we went to the Foxbar Hotel so see the open at Troon the next day.

For some of your clients, I'm sure the Foxbar Hotel in Kilmarnock may not be their cup of tea....but it was the perfect speed for Gloria and me;  it was a real working class facility catering to the working class (me and Gloria) and the owner/manager and his staff couldn't have been nicer.   The meals were great, right up our alley.  We crashed a wedding for a while (after being invited by the bride a few hours earlier), and we had a lot of fun.   A local drove us back and forth to Troon the next day; and the Open was a lot of fun for me and Gloria was a great sport about it all.  We left the next morning and visited Culzean on our way to Edinburgh;  all fun and different for us.

Next came my favorite part of the trips,  two and half days in Edinburgh;  and we stayed at the Caledonian..Grand and Elegant and we were upgraded to a two room mini suite and it couldn't have been more perfect.  Great staff, food, drinks, everything. For the next two and half days we walked about ten miles a day I think.   I'm sure we missed something, but we got in all we could.  Rose Street, the castle, the park, walk and eat tour, the miracle mile along High Street, , grass market, ..and all the cool shops.   It was a lot of fun.  For two days we had the great breakfast, a lot of walking, great dinners, all the stuff above,  a few drinks...collapse.  I loved the entire trip; but I think Edinburgh was my favorite city.   So much to see and do, everyone was especially nice, and it's all in walking distance;  and of course, the hotel was spectacular.   Spacious, great staff, perfectly manicured,  and the food from breakfast through dinner couldn't have been better.   Again...perfect.

We left Edinburgh by car and drove off to St. Andrews where I'm going to have my ashes spread..enough said.  Someday I'll probably play there but this wasn't the day.   From St Andrews we drove to directly to our hotel, Kinloch House Hotel.  I'm not sure if you much about it, it's an old hunting lodge turned into a hotel tucked away in the hills somewhere.   It was just perfect combination of elegance and quaint.  There were great grounds to walk around, enclosed garden, and our room was about a 600 square feet and just perfect.   We had drinks before dinner, then a spectacular dinner, again with a great wait staff, a little more walking around the grounds until it got dark, and that was that.  Next day breakfast was awesome, walked around a bit again, and then we were gone.   I'm not doing this place justice; suffice it to say this was Gloria's favorite place to stay out of all the great hotel we had stayed at.  I wish I had a better way to describe it to give it justice.

Next morning we left and visited Sterling and Scone on the way to Gleneagles.   I'm not sure, but at some point I know we visited both places. In the end the castles began to run together for me;   I like the cities and golf more, but Gloria loved the castles.    But I will say one thing about the castles;  they are all grand with great grounds and loads of history.

Gleneagles is the opposite of Quaint.  My guess is it would take a few weeks to take advantage of all the amenities it has to offer.   A lot of golf, horses, training facilities, restaurants, lounges, all of it.  I loved the golf,  I was hooked up with a father and son from the Troon area on vacation and they couldn't have been nicer.   At one point the son bought me a cup of coffee and when I went to pay for it said "You're a guest in our country,  When I come to the states, you can buy me a cup"     What a nice gesture.   Breakfast was through the roof great; and dinner was great, but of course you got what you paid for (not so cheap).  But the place was grand,  all services were great, and the golf, lounge and breakfast were all a man could ask for.

So from there we took the car to the airport,  and the trip home was as spectacular as the trip arriving

I really want to thank you so much for putting this together for us;  it really was a trip of a lifetime for us and we'll never ever forget it; all in large part to you.     If you want me to post something on a travel site, just let me know which ones and I will.   ...and again..thank you so much, I'll never forget this trip.

England Special Event Travel

We came to Mary Lou for assistance in planning a trip to England to attend a once in a lifetime event (complete with British royalty). From the choice of airline, to ground transportation, and especially lodging, Mary Lou chose exactly what we needed to travel successfully and comfortably with our 88 year-old, disabled mother. Everything came off with the precision of a military operation, which allowed us to enjoy our trip to the fullest. We now have memories that will enrich and sustain us for the rest of our lives. In our opinion, this was the perfect trip. We would recommend Mary Lou to everyone; she is a true professional and we appreciate her efforts on our behalf.

The Perfect Trip!

Canadian Rockies Tour

Our Tauck tour of the Canadian Rockies was absolutely wonderful. Weather was great for end of July-early August. landscapes, mountains, waterfalls were beyond imagination. Our Tour Director did a fantastic job paying attention to the smallest detail and was very knowledgeable! Likewise, the bus driver put safety first and always got us to every destination on time. We would highly recommend the Glacier and Canadian Rockies tour and consider it the best of our three Tauck tours.

Terrific Tour Guide

Dream trip to Paris

Exactly one year ago, our family was tragically affected by Hurricane Irene when a tree fell onto our van we were traveling in, crushing us inside. Our then 16 year old daughter suffered traumatic brain injuries which she has since completely recovered. A generous anonymous giver blessed us with funds to send her on her dream trip to Paris, France. We were referred to Royal Travel Center and contacted Mary Lou Yeager, MCC, President, our first time dealing with a travel agency, our first time sending our daughters abroad. Mary Lou Yeager not only met our challenge of a strict budget but created the absolute most memorable tour, power-packed with SOOO many extra's that the memories they made will outlast their entire life time. She absolutely thought of every detail, even answered questions that I didn't know I needed answers to! As a parent sending our girls to an 'unknown' place, Mary Lou of Royal Travel related to us in a personable, genuine way, addressing our concerns with kindness, and was always accessible! She was prompt to respond to our zillion questions, always patient, always professional. She never made us feel as though we were bothering her-instead, she listened to every concern, and made sure that we were completely satisfied. Every single thing she promised was exactly provided, AND THEN SOME! Our girls had the vacation of a lifetime, were kept safe and we were in constant communication with Mary Lou WELL beyond the booking. We will NEVER go anywhere else for our travels. HIGHLY recommend Mary Lou Yeager of Royal Travel to anyone considering a trip, or tour abroad or state-side. She stretched our dollars and created a way for BOTH girls to go for less than what we were able to find on our own attempts, and gave us peace of mind as well. Epitome of excellence! We have told everyone we know of our wonderful experience!

A Fantastic Journey

Mary Lou has planned multiple wonderful trips for my wife and me - Switzerland, Italy, the Caribbean and here in the US. The accommodations have always been outstanding and the travel plans flawless. She and her contacts with McCabe World Travel have consistently provided a wealth of great ideas about places to visit and hotel options that I could investigate myself before making a choice. Her expertise makes planning a trip a great experience knowing that she'll take my ideas and incorporate them into a detailed plan that will make my vacation a fantastic journey. I wouldn't consider planning a vacation without her help and I highly recommend Royal Travel to anyone who wants to plan a wonderful vacation anywhere in the world.

Australian Adventure

Mary Lou and Royal Travel helped us plan our month-long trip to Australia. Mary Lou was very responsive and resourceful in organizing a trip that fit our needs. The accommodations were excellent and the tours terrific. The suggestion to visit Tasmania was a real winner - something we would never thought of and truly the highlight of our trip. When an issue did arise and we needed to change plans while already in the country, Mary Lou and her local partners were extremely helpful (even while they were dealing with the earthquake crisis in NZ) and everything worked out beautifully. I highly recommend Mary Lou to Royal Travel to anyone visiting Australia.

Cruising with a smile

After reading the news of what happened at RCCL with the inside company TA using client data to break into customers' homes while at sea, I am more confident than ever that I chose RTC as my trusted TA many years ago when living in the Williamsburg area. No matter where I have moved over the years, Mary Lou is just a phone call or email away to assist with my vacation needs. A case in point. I had recently made my final payment on a Celebrity Concierge Class CC1 category cabin when I spotted online residency offers available for my home state on other cabin categories for my sailing. I immediately emailed Mary Lou to see what could be done to take advantage of this opportunity. Within just a few hours, I had documentation in hand confirming an upgrade to a new assigned cabin in Aqua class. In addition to a free upgrade, I look forward to giving a toast to Mary Lou whilst onboard thanks to a substantial onboard credit. Now that's what I call same day service with an "e-smile."

Switzerland Travel

We needed help planning a trip to Switzerland and Austria. We found Royal Travel Center and Mary Lou Yeager from the Switzerland tourism agency as a certified Switzerland expert. Mary Lou was great to work with and easily blended our specific desires with her own excellent suggestions to create a wonderful itinerary. All of the arrangements went very smoothly and we were very pleased with accommodations, flights, and rental car arrangements. Even though we're not local to Williamsburg, we were able to easily work with Mary Lou via phone and email to plan a great vacation. It was a great trip and we would highly recommend Mary Lou and Royal Travel Center.
